The Healthcare Interpreter will facilitate communication between limited English-speaking patients and clinic staff within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide excellent customer service and perform all clerical/administrative functions for providers in a clinical setting and enhance rapport between patients and providers. This is a full-time, M-F 8am-5pm, position. This position is not remote. Responsibilities Facilitates communication between patients and their providers, nurses, medical assistants, lab technicians and other clinical team membersEnsures patients comprehend treatment plans as described by the provider and clarifies any discrepanciesAdapts to provider workflow preferences and proactively reviews patient's chart in preparation of scheduled appointmentsConveys information to patients regarding treatment plans, lab results, referrals, and other information within electronic health records in accordance with HIPPA standardsAssists with patient registration process and completion of formsRequests translation services, as needed, through insurance companiesAssists with scheduling/rescheduling appointmentsRecognizes any potential barriers to communication that may impact the success of the patient experienceClarifies information and minimize misunderstandings with patientsEnsures accurate and detailed documentation of instructions from providersDocuments clinical visits and procedures performed by providersAssists providers in navigating the electronic health record (EHR)Locates information for review, including encounters, test results, outside recordsLeads quality initiatives and implements key components into documentationNotifies provider of any pending items and system alertsAttends trainings on diverse subjects to enhance or maintain performance Qualifications Education/Experience High School Diploma or GED requiredHealthcare Interpreter Certification is preferredExperience working in healthcare and using electronic health records preferredMedical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or other healthcare education certificate from an accredited program is preferredAdditional Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Bilingual (English/Arabic) required; Must pass the Mock visit during interview.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skillsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to communicate within non-English speaking patientsAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent planning and organizational abilityAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical Requirements
