Purpose:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for performing tasks that involve operating a
range of heavy machinery and performing physical labor at construction sites. This includes the
operation of various heavy equipment, such as excavators, dozers, track trucks, and dump
trucks. Additional tasks may involve using hand tools, installing core matting, setting up safety
fencing, and supporting other team members in site preparation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
? Operate heavy equipment including excavators (Caterpillar models 316, 320, 323, 324),
dozers (D5, D6), Terramac rotating track trucks, Hydrema trucks, and offroad articulating
dump trucks (20ton & 25ton capacity).
? Perform labor tasks as needed, including installation of core matting, wooden stakes,
filter fabric, safety fences, and silt fences.
? Spread seed, straw, and assist in setting up bypass pumps.
? Signal other equipment operators for proper positioning and safe operations.
? Load and unload materials, tools, and machinery as per project plans and specifications.
? Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas.
Education & Experience:
? Minimum of 1year experience operating Caterpillar excavators (316, 320, 323, 324) –
required
? Experience with Caterpillar dozers (D5 & D6) – preferred
? Familiarity with Terramac rotating track trucks – preferred
? Experience with Hydrema trucks – preferred
? Experience with 20ton and 25ton offroad articulating dump trucks – preferred
