We are currently recruiting a Histotechnologist for our laboratory in Oaks, PA.
Essential Functions: Meets all the responsibility requirements of Histology Technologist as defined by both state and federal law.
Assists laboratory management in daily operation of all tasks as assigned Practices anatomic laboratory science in the specialty of histology, and is responsible for the examination andprocessingof biopsy specimens taken from the human body for use in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of adisease or the assessment of a medical condition.
Tissue preparation to include grossing processing, embedding, microtomy and staining and provides these slides to the pathologist with appropriate documentation and control material for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Performs special stains and immunohistological procedures to include all aspects of antigen retrieval, processing and staining to include the quality control and validation.
Performs the required preventative maintenance on all equipment as defined by the standard operating procedure.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field (Histotechnology, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science).
Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT or HTL), Medical Technologist (MT), or Immunohistochemistry Specialist (IHC) by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP).
5 years' experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory performing both histology procedures to include routine and special stains as well as immunohistochemistry and FISH procedures.
Strong knowledge of histological techniques, laboratory equipment, and safety procedures.
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Ability to use independent judgement and knowledge to perform all related tasks.
