Saint Simons By-The-Sea is seeking a RN/House Supervisor 7a-7p & 7p-7a shift to coordinate and supervise personnel providing care to the patients and all components of the treatment program.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited too: Schedules nursing unit staff, assuring an appropriate staffing ration based on patient acuity and adhering to nursing department FTE standards. Monitors the day-to-day provision of psychiatric and chemical dependency nursing care, assisting on the unit as necessary, and communicating problems/issues with DON/Nurse Manager, as they occur. Organizes, plans, assigns, supervises, evaluates and is responsible for direct nursing care given within the units. Communicates problems or concerns to the DON//Nurse manager. Receives report from off-going nursing supervisor and gives a concise, accurate reporting to oncoming nursing supervisor. Communicates with referral sources and family members in patients' interest, complying with all confidentiality and patient rights standards and policies. Participates in treatment planning, implementation and monitoring, as needed. Assists DON/Nurse Manager with facilitation of nursing services department orientation. Identifies competency of staff and provides follow-up actions to remedy deficiencies. Assists with personnel management duties including screening and selection of nursing staff, completing performance evaluations, and giving feedback to DON and Human Resources. Serves as a liaison between nursing service and other departments in day-to-day working situations. Assists and instructs staff in special procedures or treatments. Implements emergency procedures, including restraints and seclusion. Writes incident reports as needed for patients and assists with Employee Injury reports for staff. Assures count and signatures for control substance medications with off-going and incoming shifts, assures all medications variances reported and actions implemented as ordered. Assures all diagnostic testing is performed and testing results are analyzed, actions taken and filed in medical record Serves as a role model to other nursing staff by interacting with patients to engage in treatment activities. Qualifications
Job Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in good standing in the state of practice, and all other states where license is held Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Minimum of one year supervisory experience is required, preferably in an inpatient setting. Two years' experience in mental health field preferred, but not required.
