Western Hills Retirement Village is looking for a new team member to work in our housekeeping department.
This position is full-time (5 shift per week including every-other Sat/Sun) 7a-3p.

The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe environment for the residents, staff and visitors of the facility in accordance with all state and federal regulations.
This includes cleaning and disinfecting residents' rooms, common areas and other designated areas of the facility as needed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms and common areas such as hallways, dining rooms and recreational areas
•Dust, sweep, mop and vacuum floors, and perform carpet cleaning as needed
•Clean and sanitize all surfaces such as furniture, countertops, sinks, toilets, and showers
•Clean walls, windows, mirrors, vents, elevators and stairways as needed
•Dispose of trash and hazardous waste according to facility policies and procedures
•Ensure all equipment/tools, including cleaning chemicals are property stored at all times
•Restock housekeeping supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap/sanitizer dispensers as needed
•Assist with laundry services as needed, including washing drying, folding and restocking resident clothing and linens
•Report any observed maintenance needs or hazardous conditions to department director
•Provide assistance during resident meal times by setting up resident trays (e.g.
removing domed lids, opening drinks, providing clothing protectors), observing residents and reporting any concerns to the Charge Nurse
•Communicate in a positive manner with healthcare team members, residents, families, visitors and vendors
•Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations
•Responsible for maintaining a calm, supportive and caring environment for residents and staff
•Responsible for complying with all safety and sanitation procedures including universal precautions
•Responsible for attending in-service programs, educational workshops and meetings as required by the facility and state
•Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
•Must have a minimum tenth grade education
•No experience required, however previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
•Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
•Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and, to work independently and as a part of a team
•Ability to remain calm and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
•Must have strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation
•Must be in good general health and free of communicable diseases
•Must have visual acuity and ability to hear, with or without use of prosthetics
•Must have the physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move intermittently throughout the shift, as well as the ability to climb and descend stairs, use elevator and assist residents
•Must have the physical ability to lift, push, pull and move equipment in excess of fifty pounds and stand for extended period of time
•Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language

WORKING CONDITIONS
•Works under the supervision of the Director of Housekeeping and facility Administrator
•Subject to unpleasant odors and to possible exposure to infectious waste, disease or conditions
•May be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays and on other shifts when necessary.
