Job Description: This role will oversee employee relations within the Corporate Functions client groups, including IT, Finance, Legal and Compliance, and Marketing and Growth. As a vital collaborator with HR colleagues, you will manage employment risks and employee relations from initial problem identification through mediation to resolution. You will also work closely with the Labor Relations team to enhance practices and policies for both represented and non-represented employees. This position requires extensive Employee Relations expertise and prior experience in a unionized environment to improve the overall employee experience. Additionally, as part of the Corporate Functions HRBP team, you will assist with other HR projects and responsibilities as needed.
Key ** * Address employee relations issues by offering guidance and support to managers and supervisors.
Conduct investigations and resolve employee complaints in collaboration with HRBPs and Labor Relations, making recommendations for appropriate actions.Provide guidance throughout the disciplinary action process and recommend suitable corrective measures.Ensure fair and timely handling of ER cases in alignment with company values and legal requirements.Stay informed about hospital Collective Bargaining Agreements, assisting with their interpretation and administration.Use sound judgment to minimize organizational risks while advising management on best workplace practices.Build effective relationships with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders to foster collaborative solutions.Maintain current knowledge of federal and state employment laws and compliance standards.Work alongside HR Business Partners to assess organizational climate and implement enhancements to the employee experience.Review and support managers in developing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for underperforming employees, attending meetings, and exploring innovative solutions for performance enhancement.Serve as a liaison among employees, managers, and the union (if applicable) during employment-related decisions, facilitating challenging conversations and providing advice on effective communication strategies.Attend legal hearings (such as unemployment hearings, grievances, jury trials, EEOC hearings, and arbitrations) as needed to provide testimony and advocate for Boston Medical Centers interests.Support additional HR Business Partner responsibilities as required
