The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV, and homeless services.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Human Resources Director role. This position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and is a Regular, Full-Time, Exempt role with a starting annual salary range of $142,700 to $156,500 with full benefits. Primary Objective: The Human Resources Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive human resources strategy that supports Mission Neighborhood Health Center's overall goals and objectives. This role provides leadership in key areas such as recruitment and retention, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, performance management, organizational training and development, labor and employee relations, and compliance, while fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with the organization's values.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the HR Director works closely with senior leadership to ensure that HR initiatives drive organizational effectiveness, enhance employee performance, and support long-term growth.
The position ensures that HR policies, procedures, and programs are legally compliant and in line with best practices, while addressing the evolving needs of the workforce. The Director also plays a key role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the organization, ensuring that all HR processes support a diverse and engaged workforce.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities Develop and execute a human resources strategy aligned with the organization's goals.Benefit administration and benefits design to bring added value to the organization's compensation package.Lead and/or participate in labor negotiations and relationship building with union representatives and on-site shop stewards.Provide leadership in areas such as employee relations, talent acquisition, succession planning, and organizational development.Collaborate with the Chief Strategy Officer and senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives that improve employee performance and engagement.Lead efforts to foster an inclusive workplace culture and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices.Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).HR certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) or Master's degree preferred.Skills & Experience 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and employee relations.Proven experience in leading organizational development and employee engagement initiatives.Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to influence and collaborate across departments and with senior leadership.Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.As a condition of employment, all candidates are required to provide documentation of current immunizations before the start date, including COVID-19 and TB test results valid within the last two (2) years.
