HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST GURNEE, IL Miracapo Pizza Company is the leading North American manufacturer of specialty frozen pizzas for some of the world's largest retail, foodservice and consumer branded companies. For over 30 years we have specialized in contract manufacturing, private label, and brand development.
The Human Resources Generalist is to assist and support the Human Resources department in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance for all MPC employees through participation and leadership in various HR areas. Assist in administering benefits, workers compensation, and employee performance programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.Setting up interviewsInterviewing applicants for hourly positionsCompleting background checks, drug screening, reference checks & employment verificationImplements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.Prepare badges for new employees as requested.Conduct benefits orientation.Track new hire statistics.Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, and morale.Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.Counsels managers/supervisors by interpreting company policies to assist both employees and managers in resolving problems.Maintains accuracy, integrity, and actively monitors records and reports.Handles Worker's Compensation claims, ensuring accuracy of all files and claims including follow-up.Tracks and monitors work-related injuries.Coordinates with supervisors and health care providers regarding injured employees' clinic appointments, restrictions, and return to work.Participates in special projects such as Worker's Compensation.Sets up training classes and administers the programs.Participates in the Safety Program through identifying and resolving safety issues.Schedules open enrollment meetings, tracks attendance, and participates in all activities ensuring that employees understand the benefits and that forms are completed.Assists employees with claim issues, life changes, etc.Reviews and processes benefits of new enrollments and requests changes for all benefits (health insurance, non-health insurance programs, and 401K).Maintains correct HRIS systems for employee payroll, compensation, and benefits management.May complete translation of HR documents to Spanish.Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.Performs other duties as assigned.COMPETENCIES Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Communicates effectively to help employees understand the rules and expectations.Organizes to keep extensive records of employees and candidates.Problem-solves to help drive progress and innovation and increase employee retention.Demonstrates ethics and integrity to maintain high standards within the HR department.Copes effectively with change and is able to give and receive feedback.Drives continuous improvement and is able to motivate others.Commits to organizational success and takes ownership for results.Communicates effectively in oral and written formats across functions.Develops interpersonal relationships to achieve goals.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Bachelor's degree or equivalent Human Resources experience.2-3 years of HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.Good administrative and computer skills required in Microsoft programs.Excellent communication skills (oral and written) required.Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.Ability to maintain sensitivity and confidentiality required.Ability to function independently along with the ability to multi-task is required.Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.Maintains a professional demeanor while handling multiple priorities.Ability to use available resources to keep current on HR issues and trends.As an equal opportunity employer, Miracapo Pizza Company recruits, hires, and promotes the most qualified individual, without regard to race, creed, color, age, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, veteran status, marital status or sexual orientation.
