HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER The Witte Museum is where Nature, Science and Culture meet, through the lens of Texas Deep Time and the themes of Land, Sky, and Water. The

The Witte inspires people to shape the Future of Texas through transformative and relevant experiences in engaging exhibitions and programs. Founded in 1926, the Witte is located along the San Antonio River and has recently renovated and expanded the entire museum campus.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for human resource functions, which include employee relations, recruitment, benefits, and payroll for the Witte Museum. The HR Manager will enhance and maintain the Witte Museum's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices. The HR Manager delivers top quality customer service to employees and applicants, maintains a high level of confidentiality, and ensures a high level of data and system integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains the employee handbook, in addition to general office policies and procedures Responsible for current local, state, and federal legislation effecting Museum employees Responsible for processing quarterly/annual state and federal reports, including W2s Compiles census data and collaborates with the benefits insurance broker and TPA to present recommendations to management Responsible for the management and administration of the employee benefit program such as: medical, dental, vision, FSA, HRA, group life & LTD, and optional supplemental insurances Reconciles, allocates, and prepares all monthly insurance invoices with supporting documentation Coordinates and manages the annual benefit open enrollment meeting. Enrolls all eligible employees in benefit insurances Oversees all benefit inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolutions Maintains personnel files, employee benefit records, and payroll files Responsible for the overall management of the entire payroll process: prepares, calculates, processes, and distributes bi-weekly payroll Processes and maintains employee deductions and garnishments Analyzes payroll to compare actual to budget and identify variances Ensures all payroll related transactions are in compliance with state and federal payroll regulations Prepares payroll related information requested by internal/external parties, including audit responses Schedules, organizes, and executes the monthly team meeting Works with the Chief Administrative Officer to review and update job descriptions for all open positions in preparation of posting the positions on general and professional organization websites Collects, prepares, and distributes applications and résumés Responds to employment verifications Produces miscellaneous reports Other duties as assigned EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's Degree in HR Management, Business Management or related field & six hours of college level accounting courses Preferred: PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP Certification EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to handle situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy while demonstrating the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks Must be able to meet critical deadlines in a fast paced environment Proficient in use of personal computing software, particularly Microsoft Office Good analytical and problem solving skills involving complex payroll transactions Preferred: Knowledge of Abila/MIP software PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be in good physical condition, able to move moderately heavy objects (30lbs.), bend, walk, climb stairs, stand, and sit for extended periods of time Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays The Witte Museum is an equal opportunity employer.
