PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The purpose of a HVAC Technician is to perform a variety of duties in and around the Health System facilities and properties to operate, maintain, and repair equipment and physical structures under the direction of the Manager of Facility Services or his designee. Adheres to BVHA's policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies. Develops Policies and Procedures to ensure continual delivery of HVAC mechanical service. Achieves two competency evaluations from Facility Services associates to enhance the development of qualified individuals and ensures all mechanics are trained on new HVAC equipment or changes in procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diplomaMinimum of 5 consecutive years' experience in HVAC field required.Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow instruction manuals, including drawings and parts lists.Thorough knowledge of hand/power tools and testing instruments.High pressure boiler operator's license required only if designated to be back up boiler operator.Must have the ability to service/maintain HVAC equipment including but not limited to:Centrifugal ChillersScrew chillersReciprocating chillersRooftop self-contained chillersSplit-system coolingConstant and variable speed air volume air handlers (VAV)Cooling towersBuilding automated systemsHot water heating systemsSmall appliance repairMay be required to work any shift, fixed or rotated and days off may be fixed or rotated.A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within one year of your residency in the state) and you must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy requirements.Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Develops processes and procedures to ensure continual delivery of HVAC mechanical service.Ability to service/maintain HVAC equipment including but not limited to:Centrifugal chillersScrew chillersReciprocating chillersRooftop self-contained unitsSplit-system coolingConstant and variable speed air volume air handlers (VAV)Cooling towersBuilding automated systemsHot water heating systemsSmall appliance repairAll other related systems as required.Performs plumbing, electrical and mechanical duties as required.Adheres to BVHA's policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.Achieves two competency evaluations from Facility Services Associates to enhance the development of qualified individuals.Insures all Facility Services Associates are trained on new HVAC equipment or changes in procedures.Maintains communication systems as required.Assesses and maintains architectural structure of the hospital.Ensures a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.Accepts and responds to emergencies, codes, fire, and disasters.Performs related accountabilities and responsibilities as required or directed.PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS Associates DegreeHVAC license/certificateFindlay plumbing licensePHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and standing. The individual must be able to lift up to seventy-five pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The associate must have appropriate eye-hand coordination. This associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must have appropriate verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.
