IDD Crisis Intervention Specialist (QMHP)Job Number: 24-10224
Job Summary: The IDD Crisis Intervention Specialist team supports individuals aged 3-99 diagnosed with an intellectual and/or developmental disability who have experienced a crisis episode or who are at risk of experiencing a crisis episode. Crisis Intervention Specialists support individuals with IDD to remain in the community by providing crisis prevention services. Additionally, CIS works to increase the capacity of caregivers, service providers, and law enforcement in serving the unique needs of individuals with IDD diagnoses through education and consultation.
As a Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS), you will provide services in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate a clinical skill-set by forging therapeutic relationships with diverse community members. You will provide services in the community, including the individual's place of residence, schools, day programming, as well as within the crisis respites, psychiatric hospitals, jails, and homeless shelters/camps. Many of the individuals you will serve will have severe mental illnesses, substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, and/or experience chronic homelessness.
Responsibilities and Duties: Engage in collaborative crisis prevention planning with the individual, their system of support, and other service providers.Complete narrative assessments and develop individualized crisis treatment plans to establish client-identified treatment goals and objectives for the duration of CIS services.Provide consultation and/or training to caregivers, service providers, and law enforcement on the unique needs of individuals diagnosed with IDD.Provide crisis prevention focused skills training to individuals diagnosed with IDD.Assist individuals with the IDD intake process.Maintain documentation of all client contacts within required timelines and in compliance with program requirements.Participate in inter-agency collaborations to problem-solve client needs and barriers to crisis prevention.Provide support to individuals in accessing appropriate services through communication within Integral Care, community partners, service providers, and other relevant agencies.Travel locally, daily, for client visits.Utilize electronic health records, Microsoft Word/Outlook, and other applications.The Candidate we are looking for is: Excited to work with the IDD population.Self-motivated and enjoys a dynamic work environment.Able to effectively communicate with diverse individuals while working independently.Organized and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.Proficient in documentation and excels at time management.Responsive to deadlines in a timely manner.Seeking a career that makes a difference in people's lives.Education: Graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or a related field. Master's degree preferred.License: Current and valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.Experience: One year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.Hours: Full-Time
Workdays: Monday - Friday
Workhours: 40 hours
Salary: $22.35 - $23.47 an hour based on education
