IGO Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant who will assist the physician with all back-office functions to promote efficient, confidential, and professional patient medical care while ensuring patients and staff are treated in accordance with IGO policies and procedures. Acts as the primary liaison between the physician and patients and other IGO departments. Provides hands-on patient care and gathers information via telephone calls under the physician's and back-office supervisors guidance. Completion of daily tasks while displaying professionalism, and a dedication to accurate and complete work.
\n Responsibilities Prepare exam rooms and stock rooms with instruments or equipment needed by the physician. Clean and disinfect the room after each patient. Patient intake: Use two-step verification when escorting the patient from the waiting room to an exam room. Collect patient vitals and documents within the patients EHR. Prepare the patient for the exam or procedure.Assist the physician during the procedure and exam as needed.Secure and properly label patient specimens collected by the physician. Place test orders in the EHR as per protocol.Administer medications or immunizations (IM, SC, PO, ID) as ordered by the physician including proper documentation in the EHR.Retrieve patient messages in a timely manner from voice mail or via the online patient portal, gather information regarding the call as per protocol consulting with the physician a required, and respond to patients in a timely manner to facilitate proper patient care. All correspondence must be documented within the patient's EHR.Correspond with other IGO departments, hospitals, pharmacies, and other facilities to coordinate patient care. All correspondence must be documented within the EHR.Conduct all patient care duties following IGO Policies and procedures including direct patient care, patient education and training, and appropriate and complete documentation in the patients EHR.Conduct all activities and conversations regarding patients in a HIPAA-compliant manner at all times.Other duties assigned by the Back Office Supervisor including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks assigned to all medical assistants sometimes on a rotating basis.Attend and actively participate in staff and back-office meetings. Education and Experience A high school diploma or equivalent and documented medical assistant or corpsman training are required. A minimum of one- year experience as a medical assistant, or corpsman in a back-office setting, preferably in OB/GYN.A current CPR certification is required.
