Performance Improvement RN Details Essential Job Duties:
Coordinates, implements, and maintains injury prevention programs and participates in injury prevention activities for the Trauma Program at UHTH based on Trauma Registry statistical data and the needs of the community. Works in collaboration with other UNTH departments and divisions that offer community outreach injury prevention related activities. Promotes the injury prevention programs at local, regional, and national injury prevention related activities. Maintains accurate records of all injury prevention activities. Remains knowledgeable on injury prevention legislation activities. Provides policy and protocol education to those who interface with trauma program. Provides ad hoc education for multidisciplinary personnel regarding trauma topics identified through the registry and performance improvement initiatives. Collaborates with the Clinical Educators to provide trauma-related educational programs. Assumes responsibility for clinical nursing rounds on trauma patients by reviewing patient charts for pertinent information or data and serving as a resource to nurses providing trauma care. Collaborates with medical management and trauma surgeons to decrease patient length of stay and trauma costs by reviewing patient charts for appropriateness of care, assessing patient readiness for discharge or placement and collaborating with medical management and other personnel to plan for patient home needs and follow-up. Serves as an active member of the trauma team by responding to Trauma Team activation during working hours, evaluating the performance of the trauma team and patient care during trauma resuscitation. Assists in maintaining the trauma quality improvement program by concurrently reviewing trauma charts for standard of care provided. Qualifications & Licenses:
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program - BSN preferred; Associate Degree will be considered. Minimum of five years nursing experience. Demonstrated ability to work as part of multiple teams. Ability to work in diverse cultural community groups. Current in Basic Life Support (BLS) Current Indiana Nursing license. Demonstrates leadership ability.
