The Industrial Design team enables accessible and productive experiences for our users and communicates the values of the brand through beautiful, functional hardware design.
As part of our team, you'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and scientists to make a significant impact on a rapidly-emerging class of products.

Internship Term: Winter/Spring (January - May)
Commitment: Full-time
Location: Onsite in Somerville, MA
Application Requirements: Portfolio required

The Job: Help design new products from idea to productionDevelop design concepts, with clear and compelling visual communicationPrototype continuously, from quick mockups to refined cosmetic modelsTest designs with users, translate results back into the design processHelp refine the hardware user experience, from unboxing to maintenanceCreate high quality CAD to communicate design intentCollaborate closely with Product, UI Design, Engineering, Manufacturing to develop well-balanced solutionsAssist with cosmetic specification and validation You: Can share a portfolio of relevant design workPursuing a university degree in Industrial Design (related design or engineering degrees considered)Demonstrate fluency in aesthetic decision making and an eye for detailAble to communicate quickly and effectively with hand sketchesCapable in 3D CAD, Keyshot, and Adobe CCComfortable prototyping using a variety of methodsExperience with engineering and manufacturability constraints Bonus: Graphic design skills Internships at Formlabs give students the opportunity to create, build, solve, and discover in every area of our business.
