SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing direct patient care, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook. Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements. Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss, or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan. Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan. Be present and ready for work as scheduled. Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events. Work cohesively with team members. Provide for organization and maintenance of an effective system of medical care with emphasis on wellness and prevention of illness. Provide an effective communication link between the Chief Medical Officer and non-management employees of the medical department. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Recommends and orders tests to determine the extent of an illness. Diagnosis and treatment of patients. Perform at the level and within the privileges bound by the medical license. Communicate back to management the attitudes, suggestions, and complaints of employees in a constructive business manner. Lead and motivate the employees to do their jobs effectively and efficiently. Supervision of students. Assist in the orientation, training, and supervision of the Medical Department support staff. Lead by example holding themselves to the standards of conduct and performance that they command of peers and subordinates. Attend required organizational meetings and participation on internal committees. Meet or exceed annual productivity standards. Utilizes technology to create a more efficient and effective way of doing business. Maintain confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the institution. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Physician must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Medical School with an Infectious Disease focus/specialization.
LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Infectious Disease Physician must be licensed to Practice Medicine in the State of Louisiana and possess a Medical School Diploma, Board Certification or Board Eligible and/or Residency Training Certificate. Federal DEA License and Louisiana State CDS license.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: The Physician must have excellent independent judgement and decision making skills relating to patient healthcare.
SUPERVISES: Indirectly supervise Registered Nurse, License Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, and all other medical staff employees.
