Position Overview We are seeking experienced Inspectors to be responsible for construction/transportation inspection services on a variety of projects such as bridge/roadway/rail road/intersection/trail repair, replacement, and new construction in these NY State cities and locations:

Counties of Albany, Broome, Cayuga, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chenango, Clinton, Cortland, Delaware, Erie, Genesee, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Schoharie, Sullivan, Tioga, and Tompkins, as well as the greater Syracuse, Buffalo, and Albany areas.

Opportunities may also exist in support of our Railroad efforts in New Jersey and Northern Pennsylvania.

Position Responsibilities: Performs routine construction inspection services under the supervision of a Senior Inspector, Chief Inspector, or Resident Engineer.Duties include taking and documenting detailed measurements for payments, supervising material testing, and notifying the supervisor of issues and potential deviations from plans and specifications.This position requires full knowledge of company standards, plans, and New York State DOT specifications. The skills to demonstrate a basic familiarity with various common job site conditions, communication of project requirements to a contractor, and the ability to maintain a daily report while being familiar with plans and specifications are necessary. Applicants must have the ability to know when issues must be elevated to a supervisor.Utilize safe work practices in accordance with federal, state, local, and company standards.Communicate incidents, accidents, near misses, potential hazards, and unsafe working conditions to a supervisor or the Health and Safety Department as soon as identified. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Some relevant construction observation experience is preferred.NICET Level II certification is preferred, or candidate must have a desire to pursue certification during the term of employment.Associates Degree desired; Bachelor's degree a plus. Accepted employment offers will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration Title 49 CFR Part 219. Estimated Compensation Range: $58,240 - 79,040/year* *Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
