Installation & Logistics Mechanic Location Ronks, PA : Sight & Sound is an organization comprised of people with diverse talents coming together as one in Christ to tell His story through who we are and what we do. The I&L Mechanic supports the disassembly and reassembly of scenic set pieces according to establish engineering drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Disassemble and reassemble set pieces and show elements. This will include loading, unloading, securing and stabilizing loads for travel in closed semi-trailers and various types of open, flat-bed trailers. Assure SAFE & proper usage of power tools and equipment. Responsible for the maintaining, cleaning, and organizing of supplies and workspace. Interact professionally and proficiently with truck drivers that are picking up and delivering to our warehouses. Execute general rigging practices such as use of automated and manual chain hoists, span-sets and related hardware to lift and move large, heavy pieces during the shipping, disassembly, and reassembly processes. Maintain a high level of detail and concern for the proper disassembly methods and protection of the finished surfaces, paint and applied finishes during the break-down, strapping & securing process. Collaborate on a variety of projects including changeover preparations, show installations, off-site marketing functions, inventory management, and on/offsite warehouse operations. All other duties as assigned including providing support and assistance to departments such as but not limited to framing, carpentry, painting, props, decor, facilities, and special projects. Prerequisites: General understanding of arena rigging/lifting techniques Mechanical aptitude and an ability to use and understand a variety of tools including power tools, SAE, and metric socket sets Ability to operate lifts and industrial machinery (or be trained to operate) Comfortable working at various heights Attention to detail and technical creativity Problem solving and solutions-focused mindset Proficiency in interpreting and navigating digital technical drawings Previous theater experience or experience in construction related tasks that relate directly to theatrical sets and scenery, flats, drops, props and decor is helpful but not required. Previous warehouse shipping/receiving and logistics experience helpful. Experience Required 1 - 2 years: Theatrical construction, warehouse, shipping & receiving, and/or logistics experience. Experience with theatrical sets and scenery, flats, drops, props and decor is helpful. Education Required High School or better
