OverviewThe Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting SummaryRutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Instructional Course Designer for Strategic Services, a department within the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Director, myPath Training and Employee Development, this position is responsible for the design and development of creative, learner-centered, performance-based systems training programs, modules, and materials in multiple platforms including synchronous remote learning methodologies, blended classroom learning, interactive e-learning, videos, webinars, database simulations, user manuals, job aides, facilitator guides, auxiliary practice, review, and resource materials.
Key DutiesResponsible for determining the course structure and levels, documenting, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling training requests within the divisional Learning Management System (LMS), and evaluating training assessments.Designs and delivers systems training and employee development programs.Participates in routine needs assessments to identify systems training needs and programs that foster employee development.Identifies and resolves gaps or improvements to curriculum design.Remains current on trends in learning technology.Minimum Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in instructional course design, curriculum/instructional development, instructional technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.A minimum of two years of experience in instructional course design within higher education.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesGood interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with clients effectively and efficiently to create quality training materials.Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.Proficiency in e-Learning rapid authoring tools such as Articulate 360 Suite, including Storyline, Review and Rise, Camtasia, and SnagIt.In-depth knowledge of learning and instructional theories, practices, emerging technologies, and their applications, especially as they relate to adult learning.Ability to facilitate and present instructional materials; effectively communicate technical information to a nontechnical audience; and establish cooperative working relationships.Liaise with IT and other departments, including subject matter experts, as necessary to collaborate on training projects.Skill in establishing and using effective methods of communication with internal and external staff.Preferred QualificationsExperience with AV equipment and technology for web-based course design and delivery.Special ConditionsClean Driving RecordPosition InformationPosition Status: Full Time
