JOB SUMMARY:
Aids in the development, implementation, sustainment, and oversight of Universal Orlando Resort operational training programs. Provides global and assigned client support by creating and facilitating lifesaving skill sets through American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard courses, routine Inservice training and auditing. Conducts department and safety compliance training and assists in the development, implementation, and update of the operational training programs to include hourly and non-exempt team member advancements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and facilitate structured training and development programs and initiatives in support of the company's training plan objectives including ARC courses, safety and compliance courses, Lifeguard Orientation, and awareness training. Ensures Team Members can demonstrate the necessary lifesaving skills in a safe, effective, and timely manner. Conducts refresher courses such as Lifeguard In-Service, basic lifesaving skills, health and safety, guest service and operational procedures.
Observe and assess skill knowledge based on certification level. Provides coaching and feedback and documents performance using observation reports.
Evaluates training provided by hourly on-the-job trainers to ensure quality and consistency, provides coaching to hourly trainers to improve skills. Partners with Management and Talent Development to ensure training materials are current, relevant and support the Standard Operating Procedures.
Perform administrative duties associated with training and development programs to include inputting certifications into the American Red Cross database, monitoring renewal of all safety training and maintaining inventory and care of Lifeguard training equipment. Onboarding tracking and communication to all new Aquatics Team Members.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Associate degree and/or Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1+ years of lifeguard experience required; 4+ years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the service industry or related field required.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must hold a current American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguarding certification. If not currently possessed, successful completion and passing of course is required.
Must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification. If not currently possessed, successful completion and passing of course is required.
Successful completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor course with a written test score of 80% or higher in the designated timeframe.
Demonstrate all lifeguarding skills proficiently, to include the "Swim-tread-swim Sequence" (a 150-yard continuous swim, followed by a 2-min tread without using your arms or hands for support, followed by another 50-yard swim), and a 10 lb. timed brick retrieval in 8 feet of water.
