Job Description Summary: The Instrumentation & Electronics Technician performs journey-level work associated with the repair, maintenance, and installation of electronic and pneumatic equipment.
Essential FunctionsEnsures that electronic and pneumatic instrumentation used in various Commission facilities functions properly.Uses industrial test equipment such as digital multimeters, to monitor and calibrate instrumentation systems.Participates in a preventive maintenance program.Investigates reports of equipment malfunctions and takes necessary corrective action.Services equipment such as level indicators/controllers, flow indicators/controllers, current indicators/controllers, temperature indicator/controllers, and analytical instrumentation.Aids in establishing and maintaining adequate parts inventory.Maintains records on testing, calibration, and repairs of instruments.Maintains automated control processors including assisting in programming changes needed to change setpoints or functional operations of systems.Maintains and repairs complex digital and communication equipment associated with the SCADA system.Other FunctionsPerforms other related duties as required.
Work Environment And Physical DemandsMust be able to work outside in inclement weather.Must be able to climb ladders, tanks, and descend underground, and work in confined spaces.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.Required Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesThorough knowledge of electronics/electrical theory and of the methods and practices of electronic equipment repair.Thorough knowledge of the functioning and maintenance of process control instrumentation and electronic equipment.Ability to locate and correct defects in electronic and instrumentation devices.Ability to read instrumentation data accurately and to maintain records of maintenance activities.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Minimum Education, Experience RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent.3+ years experience in electronics, electrical controls, or instrumentation as related to process control equipment, or other closely related experience.Additional RequirementsMust possess a valid driver's license with no more than 4 points, and be able to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver's permit.Employees in this position are required to be a member of the Instrumentation call back/standby duty rotation.Employees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel; therefore, the employee must report to work as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor when WSSC Water declares an event that requires emergency personnel to report to work.PreferencesAdditional experience is helpful.
Salary$25.96 - $44.05 per hour
