Insurance Administrator and Counsel Job Summary: The Insurance Administrator and Counsel will support the Corporation and Legal Department, reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. This role involves managing the corporate insurance program, preparing underwriting submissions, reviewing policies, handling claims, and liaising with insurers. The position also includes reviewing contracts, advising on legal issues, and mitigating risk. Location: Houston, TX Key Responsibilities: Insurance Management: Oversee insurance placement, renewals, and audits. Manage captive insurance programs and surety bonds. Contract Review: Negotiate and draft contracts, focusing on insurance terms and risk mitigation. Legal Counsel: Advise on insurance claims, subcontractor defaults, and coverage issues. Provide legal opinions and training on insurance matters. Risk Mitigation: Work with legal and claims teams to assess and mitigate risks across operations. Liaison Role: Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance-related matters across internal departments and with external insurers. Vendor/Charter Boat Insurance: Ensure compliance with vendor insurance requirements and review charter boat insurance policies. Reporting & Compliance: Monitor vendor insurance compliance, issue charter boat reports, and ensure all insurance requirements are met in contracts. Qualifications & Skills: 7+ years of experience in legal, risk management, and claims management. J.D. from an accredited law school and active state bar membership. Strong negotiation skills and ability to advise internal stakeholders. Detail-oriented with a focus on risk management and compliance. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various teams. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Standard office environment.
