Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Product Management, the Interactive Developer creates dynamic and engaging web experiences for the Office of the Chief Bilingual Officer.
Job Description: Collaborates with internal stakeholders such as curriculum writers and signers to deliver bilingual content for modular learning and online materials.
Encompasses conceptualizing interactive narratives, overseeing production, and managing end-to-end web development projects.
Creates interactive elements and applications like course websites, micro-credentials, newsletters, blogs, and landing pages, using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks (Svelte, React, to name a few), and other relevant web technologies.
Develops procedures and service workflows to achieve the ASL and English bilingual mission of the University.
Ensures cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness of developed interfaces in American Sign Language and English across various devices.
Develops custom components to be used in a content management system (learning, document, or enterprise).
Implements accessibility best practices (WCAG) to create inclusive experiences for all users and tests code to ensure high quality.
Writes clean, maintainable, and well-documented code and fosters an efficient and effective understanding of the technical information through workflows, sitemaps, visuals such as infographics, wireframes or other documentation.
Develops compelling, accurate, and engaging data visualizations that organize statistics, research, design process and other information for a variety of media (digital, mobile, and print).
Develops an animation library with custom transitions, scripts, effects and presets with GreenSock Animation Platform (GSAP).
Creates in-between for various elements, such as videos, interactions, and animations in applications, to enhance user experiences.
Ensures that human-centered design principles and best bilingual practices are applied to user, customer and product experiences.
Stays up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the quality and functionality of the developed products.
Troubleshoots and resolves any technical issues that arise during the development and implementation stages.
Acts as a Title IX reporter, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and participates in required training.
Performs additional duties as needed to support the overall goals and objectives of the team.
Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
Demonstrates a genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.
A minimum of three years of professional experience with website development, graphic design, or a related field.
Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong familiarity with social justice trends and issues.
Strong knowledge of modern programming languages such as HTML5, CSS3, Python, JavaScript, jQuery and React.
Strong commitment to programs that advance equity, diversity and inclusive excellence.
Strong familiarity in data science and data management using modern technologies.
Strong understanding of blockchain and Ethereum technologies.
Strong understanding of accessibility compliance laws and regulations.
Strong ability to ensure the utmost discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
Strong skills with current web development methodologies as well as functional, imperative and object-oriented languages.
Demonstrated experience in an agile environment and building complex web-based systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Demonstrated experience with REST APIs, mobile development methodologies, and server side object-oriented programming.
Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside constituents and groups.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
