Job Description
The Facilities Capital Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and driving an efficient strategic plan for base build capital, and facilities space management through cross functional department collaboration in support of manufacturing and other support areas. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Project Management/Planning:
Coordinates portfolio of planned capital facilities projects and helps shape strategic decisions
Defines and leads multi-disciplinary efficiency projects
Provides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
Follows change management procedures
Works with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections
Technical/Data Analysis:
Utilizes data analytics to drive action, improve performance, gain efficiency, and achieve cost savings
Builds and maintains budgetary planning models, outlining capital trends and forecasts
Uses root cause analysis to effectively resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
Provides base build consultation and capital support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing and other department/sites
Supports executive and corporate requests/assignments
Partners with key stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities for equipment/process efficiencies
Supports benchmarking activities on operational, procedural, and engineering facilities systems
Maintains applicable discipline knowledge, such as budget planning, space management theory, forecasting, etc.
Communication/Collaboration:
Collaborates with stakeholders on the funding status and future budget planning for base build projects
Presents and justifies monthly capital requests to facilities leadership and executives
Coordinates facilities budgets with labs, shops, manufacturing and corporate to drive effective planning
Partners with capacity planners, operations, and construction teams to calculate risk prioritization numbers (RPN)
Participates in mid to long term infrastructure planning for facilities in support of the overall company plan
Safety:
Completes all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron's safety policies
Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Reports all safety-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (Emergency Response Team, Supervision, etc.)
Performs audits and submits good catches on safety issues

Demonstrated ability to organize and efficiently facilitate meetings and project teams
Demonstrated critical thinking skills
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, follow complex procedures, and work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and self-improve
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, propose, and implement effective plans to improve overall efficiency
Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex problems and address root causes
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Power Point
Strong understanding of data extraction, data analysis and visualization methodologies
Experience or knowledge of data collection, warehousing systems, and data cleansing
Education and Experience:
Required: Must be a current student, must not graduate before September 2024.
Preferred: Tableau, PowerBI or other relevant data science skills
Preferred: Prior engineering internship
