Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Round Rock Magnet Designated Teaching Hospital Department: Internal Medicine Med Surg Shift: Nights Status: Full Time, 36 hours/week About Us We are currently seeking full-time experienced Registered Nurses (RN) to join our growing Internal Medicine Med Surg team in Round Rock, Texas. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Round Rock is a 101-bed, full-service hospital, providing a wide network of medical expertise and resources, as well as an enhanced ability to care for patients.
As we gear up to open the doors to our expansion, we will introduce a state-of-the-art patient tower to our Round Rock hospital, tailored to accommodate the evolving needs of our rapidly growing population.
Unit Summary Typical Conditions found in our Internal Medicine Med Surg Unit:
End Stage Renal Disease [ESRD] / AKI / DialysisPneumoniaCOPD and/or other Lung DiseasesGI BleedAnemiaAltered Mental StatusHyperglycemiaHypertensive UrgencyConfirmed or rule-out infectious disease [MRSA, TB, C.Diff]Other complex medical conditions or patients with multiple comorbiditiesJob Summary As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
What You'll Do Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans.Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly.Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff while prioritizing safety and effectiveness in patient care planning and delivery.Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to personal and peer development.What Will Make You Successful In The Role A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.Proficiency in medical terminology, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.Belonging Statement We think everyone should feel welcomed, valued, and supported. Qualifications Graduate of an Accredited ProgramSpecialized field of study should be nursing.A current and valid nursing license.Must have BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting in this role.
