Job Description
Under pain management provider direction, the RN provides skilled nursing care to patients in a variety of clinical settings including pre-procedure, procedure suite, post-procedure and ambulatory settings. Scope of responsibility is characterized by use of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene and evaluate human responses to actual or potential health problems utilizing appropriate practices, standards, protocols and guidelines within the pain management practice.
· Inserts, monitors, and removes an IV used to give medication, blood products, and nutrition to a patient. During IV therapy, nurse monitors patient for adverse reactions and ensure that tubing, bandage, and needles stay in place
· Preparing patient for interventional procedure including checking and verifying vital signs, medications, NPO status, lab results, and medical history
· Ensure patients receiving intravenous (IV) therapy receive care that is appropriate for the therapy ordered by the pain management provider using the IV infusion pump, management of the device, as well as monitoring and evaluating the patient's response to the therapy
· Develop and apply skills such as administration of conscious sedation
· Calibrating Equipment, such as infusion pumps, patient monitoring systems
· Develop nursing plan as it relates to the patient's pain management plan of care
· Knowledge and skills to explain procedure to patient and answer questions, preparing equipment and supplies for procedure, positioning patient for imaging, monitoring the patient during procedure, documenting information in EMR
· Knowledge and skills to assist with operation of the c-arm during pain procedures
· Monitor and manage medication as it relates to stocking, expirations, ordering, and monitoring proper medication wasteQualifications · CT- RN License required
· 3 years of nursing experience required
· Associates Degree, RN required
· Experience with drug infusion and post procedure care preferred
· Ability to pass internal IV competencies
