Ip Library Applications Engineer

Ip Library Applications Engineer
Company:

Synopsys

Details of the offer

The DesignWare Library (DWL) IP Applications Engineer is responsible for working with the R&D and Tech Pubs teams on planning, testing, release and support of the DeisgnWare Building Block Library (DW BB), DesignWare Foundation Cores Library (DWFC) and to some extent the internal Basic Core Module Library (BCM).
In addition, the DWL AE works with the DesignWare Synthesis (DWS) AE regarding the interactions between DWL IP and the Synthesis flow that is directed by the code in synthesis tools that the DWS is responsible for.  The DWL AE and DWS AE should be cross trained in order to provide coverage when one is taking time off. Requirements: BSEE with 5+ years of direct industry experience in digital logic . Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. An overarching quality of a good AE is that of being an advocate for customers.  In this role, you will work "with" R&D, not always siding with R&D nor always siding with customers.  In this role, it's also required to have the skills to walk the fine line of seeing problems through the "reasonable" eyes of a customer while trying to weigh problems against the reality of R&D challenges.
The DWL AE is a member of the DesignWare Library/Synthesis Core team along with the Product Marketing Manager (PMM), R&D Managers for both DWS and DWL, Tech Pub representative and the DWS AE.  Periodic meetings of the Core Team are used to keep all parties up to date on customer issues, release schedules, product planning, etc.
The primary responsibilities of the DWL AE include planning, testing and supporting: Product Planning: As the AE works supporting customers, they can provide information as to how customers are using products and sometimes convey customer desires for new features or products which is important information to assimilate with R&D plans for new products and features. Product Testing: The AE is responsible for testing features to check whether they meet specifications.  This includes alpha testing of newly defined products or features.  In addition, the AE is responsible for verifying bug fixes by testing the proposed correction of IP against test cases that customers provide.  Having the AE devise and perform their own independent testing methodology can be a valuable means of extra validation. Product Support: The AE is responsible for responding to customer inquiries about product usage and reports of product bugs.  The support activities also include triaging and analyzing customer issues in order to provide concise information about the issue and to file a formal Issue to track the item through the process of addressing it.  Once an issue has been assigned to R&D and/or Tech Pubs the process will continue until the issue is thought to be ready for release at which time it returns to the AE for validation.
