IRL Staff Nurse, General Cardiology - UI Heart and Vascular Center Qualified candidates with a minimum of 2 years of RN experience may be eligible for a sign-on incentive of up to $10,000. The UI Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) is seeking a Staff Nurse to assess nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice of General Cardiology patients.
Provide leadership to members of the nursing team to maintain patient care standards.
Scheduled hours will be between 7:00AM and 6:00PM, Monday through Friday.
Specific schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager.

Function as clinical staff nurse within the UI Heart and Vascular (HVC) outpatient/ambulatory team. Responsible for patient intake and vital sign monitoring, current medications and allergies charting, suture removal, wound dressings, etc. Collaborate with other services to schedule and coordinate additional testing for diagnosis or medical clearance. Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness. Assess patient health care preferences and expectations. Coordinate the continuum of care across settings in collaborative manner. Develop patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions. Implement patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Collaborate and integrate contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan. Develop, coordinate and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care. Implement nursing interventions according to department policies to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Maintain skills/competency related to special equipment, medications, and procedures common to the patient population. Participate in the development and implementation of computer applications. Serve as clinical preceptor to new nursing and/or agency staff as directed. Provide clinical care/cross-coverage to all HVC locations as needed/requested. Utilize, adhere and support departmental standards and practice guidelines. Positively collaborate and coordinate the continuum of care within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrate acceptance of responsibility; pride in work performed; flexibility in acceptance of assignments while maintaining professional behavior. Education Requirement: Requires an Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA). Experience Required: 1 year experience providing direct nursing care in relevant settings within past 6 months. Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with patients/families, nursing staff and other team members. Ability to work autonomously in high-volume ambulatory setting with limited supervision. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Current Iowa driver's license plus ability to meet UI Fleet Services safety standards. Certification/Licensure Required: Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required by start date. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa required by start date. Desired Qualifications: 3 years' experience providing direct nursing care in relevant settings. If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desired. Current job-related professional certification. Previous EPIC experience. Knowledge of University policies, procedures and practices.
