JOB SUMMARY:
A technician who develops and maintains irrigation water delivery systems, many of which are computer controlled. This team member installs, operates, repairs, and improves irrigation systems in conjunction with landscape maintenance teams, in order to maintain landscape health and show quality. With a strong grasp of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, this team member quickly evaluates hydraulic, wiring and controller-related issues in the context of sprinkler and washdown water systems. This team member can install all components of an irrigation system, including many sizes of main and lateral lines, and works to maximize system efficiency in a constantly evolving landscape.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs and repairs irrigation systems in new and existing areas. Troubleshoots and resolves wiring and hydraulic issues at all system levels.
Performs preventive maintenance through detailed monthly inspections, testing operation of irrigation zones and components. Communicates watering schedule recommendations to team lead.
Performs adjustments to irrigation system that ensure proper operation and align with landscape needs. Assists with watering requests from landscape teams and across departments.
Upholds Horticulture show quality standards when disturbing landscape by performing cleanup, such as plant removal, replacement, and mulching.
Utilizes business systems to create work orders and record labor hours.
Locates underground irrigation lines for FPU upon request
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High school degree or GED required.
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
3 years' experience in commercial irrigation required; fewer years of experience may be considered based upon size of previously completed projects
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Florida Drivers License required to operate company vehicles.
Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The ability to identify trees and shrubs, in addition to knowledge of water requirements, is preferred.
