Position Specific Description
The IT Internship role at NextEra Energy will primarily focus on the modernization of our infrastructure.
The intern will be assist with converting existing EC2 servers to serverless Fargate services to optimize operations and reduce AWS costs.
This role requires familiarity with various AWS services, programming skills, and a solid understanding of database and system programming concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
•AWS Services: Work with AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS), Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Simple Storage Service (S3), and AWS Lambda
•Serverless Migration: Convert existing EC2 servers to serverless Fargate services, focusing on cost reduction and operational efficiency
•Programming: Utilize programming languages like TypeScript and Python for implementing and integrating solutions
•Database Concepts: Apply database management and system programming concepts to ensure data integrity and optimized performance
•Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, develop solutions, and implement them into the existing architecture
•Documentation: Produce detailed documentation of the migration process, configurations, and testing procedures
•Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in cloud operations and cost management
Qualifications:
•Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or related program at an accredited university
Technical Skills:
•Familiarity with AWS services, including ECS, EKS, S3, and AWS Lambda
•Experience with programming languages: TypeScript and Python
•Understanding of database and system programming concepts
Soft Skills:
•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
•Excellent communication and teamwork skills
•Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Additional Experience (Preferred):
•Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
•Previous internship or project experience in cloud computing or IT systems
