About the Role: As Manager of IT Engineering, you will deliver all systems and infrastructure globally, manage team performance, and lead projects and initiatives from concept to completion. This role will report to the senior manager for Engineering and Support and work to advance our critical capabilities globally. Your portfolio will include networking, computing, backups and disaster recovery, data centers, and related infrastructure. As part of the global IT leadership team, your voice will be critical in helping to develop and execute an enterprise-wide IT strategy and roadmap aligned and positioned to innovate and deliver compelling business value on a global scale. Through partnerships within and outside of IT, you will work to ensure stakeholders have access to our systems and services whenever and wherever they need them. You will be supported by a global IT organization that provides cutting-edge solutions and services to scientific teams to increase collaboration, productivity, and development of quantum software, applications, and hardware, which will have a future impact on our everyday lives. Previous experience and a track record of leading high-performing technical teams and exceeding end-user expectations are ideal for this position. Key Responsibilities:Manage and lead a global IT Engineering team of engineers, architects, and team leaders. Provide guidance, training, and motivation. Set and assess performance standards and outcomes and provide feedback and guidance as needed.Lead the hiring, development, and retention of top engineering talent for your team.Identify key performance indicators and hold your team accountable for achieving those metrics (e.g., measurably improve infrastructure reliability, redundancy, security, and scalability).Proactively communicate and engage with IT, scientific, and enterprise leaders to translate business requirements into solutions and improve engagement and collaboration with critical stakeholders.Lead your team's CAPEX and OPEX budget planning and help develop the IT Annual Operating Plan (AOP).Guide projects and initiatives that increase scope and complexity by following project management best practices (e.g., communicating, documentation, project timeline, and milestone tracking).Ensure teams have defined and developed robust diagrams and documentation representing IT engineering workflows, projects, and infrastructure.Ensure corporate and enterprise policies and standards are upheld and implemented consistently, uniformly, and within compliance worldwide.Ensure inquiries and escalations for incidents, projects, and service requests leverage best practices in service delivery, customer service, and IT automation.Previous and relevant hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting global infrastructure, including servers, network backbone (firewalls, switches, WAPs, etc.), and associated alerting, monitoring, and logging platforms.This role will occasionally need to travel to other sites within the scope of your duties (U.S.-based sites and very occasionally to Europe and Asia-Pacific) as necessary to ensure project delivery, oversight, and team mentorship.Ability to respond to, manage, resolve, and minimize future after-hours events or crises.YOU MUST HAVE:High School Diploma/GEDMinimum 8+ years' experience in relevant IT Service areas.Minimum 5+ years' experience as an IT Manager, or equivalent, leading and mentoring teams responsible for critical IT infrastructure across multiple sites.Minimum 5+ years' experience working as a senior or principal individual contributor designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure at scale in a customer-first enterprise.Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident or green card holderWE VALUE:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fieldExtensive and demonstrable knowledge of IT systems, services, and hardware encompassing on-premises and cloud-based server and network architectures and enterprise-level IT services, tools, and procedures.ITIL, PMP, CISSP, and Microsoft certifications are desired.Experience leading a distributed team responsible for the planning, building, running, and monitoring of IDFs, MDFs, and their related equipment (e.g., power, cooling, and monitoring) or working with a collocation service provider on a global scale.Strong technical leadership abilities, vision and drive, and a documented record of success.Knowledge of networking, routing, switching, wireless, and VPN technologies.Ability to document procedures and design workflows to improve technical and operational stability and efficiency.Relentless pursuit of customer service and employee satisfaction.Experience working in a technology start-up environment.Ability to present and communicate IT concepts at all company levels.Willingness to be flexible in meeting the demands of a fast-moving business. $144,000 - $188,000 a year
