This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC).
The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.
As an IT Quality Analyst/Tester, you will provide information systems software testing, quality assurance and quality control of application software and systems.
This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution.
This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework: Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Experience must include: Proven experience and understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) stages, with hands-on experience in various testing methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
Demonstrated experience in manual testing of Custom Web Applications and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products, as well as familiarity with automated testing processes and executing automated test scripts.
Experienced in diverse test types, including but not limited to unit, functionality, integration, system, regression, performance, ETL, accessibility, and user acceptance testing.
Proven experience and understanding of database concepts and data validation techniques, with the capability to write complex SQL queries for verifying data integrity and conducting backend testing.
Proven ability to articulate testing results, issues, bugs, and requirements effectively using defect tracking systems such as DEVOPS.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A masters degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelors degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associates degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications 5 years experience manually testing front end and back end for software, web applications and database driven solutions.
Demonstrated experience testing cloud-based applications and environments, with a proven track record of successful testing of implementations and enhancements.
Ability to create comprehensive and business-relevant Software Verification Test Plans, Test Cases, and other relevant project deliverables.
Able to define problems as they arise, analyze complex issues, and work collaboratively with cross functional teams to provide actionable recommendations and solutions.
Experience performing risk analysis at the project management or release level to identify potential risks and mitigate them.
Demonstrates experience leading and mentoring new testers on projects and assigned work efforts to enhance team performance.
Active participation in formal reviews of business requirements and application design to ensure alignment with testing objectives.
