IT Specialist Title: IT Specialist Location: Chicago, IL, onsite Reports to: IT Director Full-time Frontage Laboratories Inc. is an award winning, full-service CRO/Contract Research Organization operating over 25 state-of-the-art laboratories across the US, Canada and China.
Our core competencies include drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), safety and toxicology, bioanalytical services, chemistry and manufacturing controls for drug development, and core laboratory services for clinical trials.
Our Chicago, IL site provides toxicology testing and research laboratory services and specialized pre-clinical studies in support of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products.
Position/Job Summary: The IT Specialist will work closely with on-site employees, and corporate IT colleagues offering administrative support to all IT-related activities.
Under direct supervision of the site IT leader, will help in installing, supporting, testing, and repairing systems and networks.
This individual is expected to use basic technical knowledge to support IT initiatives and provide first-level technical information systems support to the company staff.
Roles & Responsibilities : Specify, Install, configure, diagnose, and support servers, network and desktop computing hardware and software.
Ensure requests and incidents are recorded, updated, escalated, and resolved using the IT Service tracking tools.
Follow and ensure industry security/IT trends/standards, such as ISO 27001, NIST, etc.
Follow Good Laboratory Practices (FDA-GLP) Perform problem solving and help on various software applications and hardware systems.
Provide individual instructions and training to users.
Track inventory levels of IT equipment and materials; perform data entry and maintenance of records such as, but not limited to, project documents, user instructions, and general reports and/or systems logs.
Perform routine technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; troubleshoot and resolve general system hardware, software, and network failures and conflicts.
Manage user accounts and permissions.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Delivering assignments on time and adjusting regular business hours to accommodate deadlines.
Education, Experience & Skills Required : Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Management, or equivalent work experience.
Must have strong verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
Must have the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Must have knowledge in a system management programming language, such as PowerShell, Command Script, VB, VBA, or Python.
Candidates must be highly motivated, prepared to be flexible within the wider IT team, and capable of working under pressure during peak periods.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows Domain & Server Management, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL Understanding of Networking and protocols.
Experience with administration of Microsoft Active Directory.
Optional Skills, and Experience: Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices - firewalls, switches, wireless access points.
Experience/knowledge in scientific instrumentation and/or data collection systems.
Experience with Cisco routers.
Experience with Meraki Wireless Access Points.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Remote IT support may include weekends and evenings.
Moderate physical activity.
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 40 pounds and/or standing and/or walking an average of four (4) hours per day.
