Qualifications: Experience with the installation and management of servers, desktops, notebooks, and tablets, including installation, configuration, and management of Microsoft Windows. Experience with the installation and management of network related hardware and software. Experience with the installation, configuration and management of Interactive TVs, projectors, SmartBoards and document cameras. Experience with the installation, configuration, and management of security camera systems and related hardware. Experience with the installation, configuration, and management of audio systems including building intercoms and individual room sound systems. Experience with installation, configuration and management of enterprise class Wi-Fi systems. Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college level coursework in computers and five years experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of computer work stations, servers, peripherals and related equipment. Advanced training and certification in Information Technology is desirable. Such other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Goals: Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Services, design, service and maintain local area networks and provide technology support to schools and departments in the District.
Primary job duties of District Network Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following: Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems. Install and maintain network hardware and software. Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users. Install and maintain district security camera system. Install and maintain district Wi-Fi system. Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security. Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers. Maintain network servers such as file servers, virtual servers, and dedicated servers. Maintain classroom desktop computers, security updates and patches. Provide technical support for users of computer systems District-wide; respond to requests for technological assistance from District, department and site personnel; work with departments, sites and divisions to assure optimum acquisition, installation, maintenance, utilization, repair and security of available technology. Provide support/training for On-Site Technology Managers and staff. Other duties as assigned by Director of Information Technology Services.
