Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Kubernetes Engineer to join our team on a critical Department of Defense (DoD) project. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Kubernetes-based infrastructure to support our containerized applications. You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure our Kubernetes clusters are secure, scalable, and compliant with DoD standards. \n Key Responsibilities:Create robust and secure cloud architectures using modern approaches like service mesh and loosely coupled design.Handle various Kubernetes providers (e.g., EKS, AKS, GKE) and manage self-hosted clusters.Design and implement network connectivity, and provisioning strategies to ensure scalability and security.Assess and design Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) systems to ensure compliance with security and organizational requirements.Maintain, configure, and monitor containers using IaC principles across development, testing, and live environments. Design containerized solutions for databases (both relational and non-relational), data auditing, caching, and performance optimization.Collaborate with architects to implement security measures, data protection strategies, and failover/failback mechanisms.Implement Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment pipelines using various CI/CD tools and manage container registries.Experience in technical customer service, customer management, and handling escalations may be required. Skill/QualificationActive DoD SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5-7 years of experience working with Kubernetes in a production environment, preferably within a DoD or government setting. Proficiency in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters on-premises, AWS EKS, RKE2, Azure AKS, GCP GKE. Strong understanding of container technologies Docker, Podman and microservices architecture. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools Terraform, Helm, Ansible. Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI. Knowledge of networking concepts like Istio, security, and storage concepts within Kubernetes environments. Understanding of security frameworks and standards NIST, DoD STIGs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications: Candidate must be willing to obtain Security+ CE Experience with DoD-specific cybersecurity requirements and compliance frameworks. Relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), or AWS Certified Kubernetes Specialist.
