Responsibilities A full-time opportunity as a Lab Assistant on the Remote Laboratory Services Team is now available. In this role, you will work at the Marvin Building located at 2915 Valleyhigh Drive NW, where you will have immediate, on-site parking. As a Lab Assistant you will work collaboratively with team members and patients with direction from your supervisor. You will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical, processing, and other lab duties that include the following:
Building remote lab specimen kits Shipping/receiving Answering a high volume of calls from patients and Mayo Clinic staff Identification verification Maintaining supply inventory Filing Stocking Working with various computer information systems on a daily basis Partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives Visit the Clinical Labs career site to watch a brief video of Danielle discussing her role as a Lab Assistant at Mayo Clinic.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic. **This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional Qualifications A background in science and 1-2 years medical experience is preferred, but not required. Previous experience or knowledge of computers and keyboarding, telephone operations and other office equipment desired. Knowledge of laboratory functions Medical terminology Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling. Must be organized, with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment. Must possess good human relations skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, and weekend work assignments. Requires the ability to be attentive to details and to adhere to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents and infectious agents. *International transcript: MUST have a DETAILED equivalency evaluation. MUST show US equivalent degree. Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.
