Shift- Sun-09:00-3:00pm, Wed, Thurs, Fri 09:30-6:00pm, Sat 10:00-7:00pm
Under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the Lab Courier is responsible for the safe, timely, and courteous transportation of laboratory specimens and other pre-arranged parcel deliveries.
This role requires maintaining accurate records of all deliveries and adhering to strict confidentiality and safety protocols.
Primary Responsibilities:
Arrive on time each day, well-groomed, and in a clean, pressed uniform.
Review daily schedule of pre-arranged calls and, when time permits, locate addresses on a map.
Transport parcels according to the designated schedule.
Maintain a calm, courteous, and professional attitude towards patients and healthcare personnel.
Immediately report any issues causing delays in pickups to dispatch.
Use Loyola Medicine Transport two-way radio in a professional manner at all times.
Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean both inside and outside, washing it daily at the end of each shift.
Complete a Loyola Medicine Transport check-out list daily before operating the vehicle.
Prepare and complete all logs, questionnaires, and bills neatly and promptly.
Maintain confidentiality of all employee, corporate, and patient records in compliance with Corporate Compliance Policies and all state and federal regulations.
Adhere to Loyola University Medical Center's Bloodborne Pathogen Plan.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Practice safe work habits, follow safety guidelines, and participate in safety programs to help prevent unsafe conditions.
Position Requirements: Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read maps and a good knowledge of Chicagoland area.
CPR preferred or must complete an adult CPR class within six months of employment.
Minimum Work Experience: Recent experience in transporting of lab specimens is preferred.
Contact with Others: Excellent ability to communicate with allied health personnel.
Analytical Demands: Problem solving skills necessary to be able to prioritize assignments and make decisions accordingly relating to assignment.
Clean motor vehicle record
Working Conditions:
Physical Effort: Physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Climbing stairs, pushing, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching when needed.
