Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Laboratory Director Laboratory Supervisor, receives patients, correctly identifies patients, collects specimens from patients, transports specimens, processes specimens, performs clerical functions, and assists technical personnel with assigned non-technical tasks. Processes and packages specimens being referred to a reference laboratory for testing.Core Job ResponsibilitiesObtains blood specimens by skin puncture (capillary) or venipuncture using appropriate technique and maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test performed: from neonates by capillary blood collection techniques; from pediatric,adolescents, adult and geriatric patientsInstructs patients in collection of urine, sputum, stool specimens.
