Must Haves: 10+ years' experience in Construction Materials Minimum 5 years' experience as Laboratory Manager or Supervisor.Must possess or ability to obtain within six month all relevant TXDOT certification including but not limited to: SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, AGG101, level 2, ACI Strength, ACI Field, Level 1A.Graduation from High School or equivalent.Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples up to 50lbs as a routine part of the job.Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving recordAbility to use a computer and familiar with Microsoft environment Plusses: Advanced Geotechnical testing such as CUs, UUs, Tri-axials is a plusAdvance levels of Microsoft Overview: The duties described below for a Laboratory Manager serves as guidance of all lab operations and the management of all lab team members.
As the Lab Manager this position should be proficient in the test procedures and performs as part of quality assurance and quality control for geotechnical and construction materials.
Detailed procedures and training will be provided if needed for certain tests but would prefer the incoming candidate to have the following:
Oversee and manage Austin lab's accreditation processOversee and manage Austin lab's proficiency programOversee and manager all laboratory testing Document work performed by number of tests or time spent, as appropriate Communicate test results to client when requiredProvide support on engineering projects as directedAssist other personnel at the direction of the Department ManagerPerform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient, and workmanlike manner Maintain all lab equipment and calibrations Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projectsPerform work related to achieving annual plan goals and objectives as directed by Department Manager. Provide technical consultation as a subject matter expert on projects as needed. Provide technical approach information for opportunity pursuits.Participate in opportunity interviews related to areas of expertise as requested.Provide technical training to junior staff. Perform direct project work and quality reviews of technical reports.
Provide a safe, clean workplace.In the case of temporary absence or staff turnover produce results expected of project engineers as needed.Resolve project and client issues fairly and in accordance with company policy.Perform standard and advance lab testingProvide technical training to staff as needed
