Horst Excavating is looking for hard-working laborers to work on several commercial excavation projects in South Central Pennsylvania and North East, Maryland. Excellent opportunities for growth within the company.
Who we are :
The Horst Group consists of 5 separate entities, Horst Insurance, Horst Property Management, Horst Cottages, Horst Excavating and Horst Construction. This position will work solely for Horst Excavating.
Horst Excavating has been in business for over 60 years. Our award-winning team's vision is to continually expand our site development business through customer-centered quality work. For us, it is more than just earthwork. Based out of Lancaster, PA most of our projects are within a 75 mile radius of the main office, however we do provide commercial excavating services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The markets we serve include senior living, education, industrial, manufacturing, religious, performing arts, and various other commercial endeavors.

Responsibilities and Expectations As a crucial part of Horst Excavation's Self-Perform team, you'll be expected to perform the following with the highest degree of precision and quality:
Maintain job site by cleaning up and removing trash and debris. Transport, carry, and move materials on job sites. Drive company vehicle to run errands and pickup materials and parts. Perform a variety of digging, shoveling, and grade preparation work, including raking and spreading of stone for concrete slab work. Backfilling operations may require the employee to operate tampers and similar equipment. Perform on-site labor work as needed; includes operating jackhammer, small rollers, and tamper, checking grade elevations, installing pipe and on-site sewer system. Performs minor landscaping and miscellaneous demolition. Assist in the placement of concrete and reinforcing steel. Maintain assigned tools and equipment. Properly follow company policies and safety standards, as well as job site specific safety plan. Communicate any concerns or problems to the attention of the foreman/ superintendent. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Requires basic academic education, through at least 8th grade. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to use necessary tools and equipment. Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be on feet for extended periods of time. A current valid driver's license is required. Will be required to obtain all clearances required to work on school projects, including but not limited to the Pennsylvania and Federal criminal history records, fingerprint submission, Act 34 background check, and Act 151 child abuse clearances.
