Jail to Jobs hires and mentors formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted youth from the age of 14 to 25 who are motivated to change their lives. We hire and pay them to learn employable skillsets while being mentored on the job by a formerly incarcerated supervisor. We offer a holistic program and work towards the following goals:
In our program, youth have several career paths to choose from and are placed according to interest, ability, aptitude, and best fit. Our four primary skills paths are listed below. Upon graduation from our program, Jail to Jobs will assist in finding a job with one of our many hiring partners.
Travis County Construction Program Title: Installer / Laborer / Landscape Technician Location: Multiple locations in the Lago Vista and Lakeway Area
*Transport provided to work location from 309 E. Powell Lane
Salary:
Starting at $14 plus mentorship
Hours: 25-30 /week, 9a – 4p most days
Description: This position is responsible for a variety of tasks including performing manual labor, providing cleanup services on construction sites, using standard construction tools like hammers, drills, levels, tape measures, nail guns, and operating light machinery. Other assignments could include installing mailboxes and appliances with close professional supervision, building fences, creating swells, laying sod, and performing other landscape maintenance tasks. An emphasis will be placed on trainings for workplace safety, proper handling of tools and equipment, clear communication, and working as a team.
