The Cedars-Sinai Lactation Program and breastfeeding resources can help any mom be more confident and overcome nursing problems, even if you've had difficulty before.Summary of Essential Duties:Under the supervision of the Supervisor for Lactation Services, the Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing breastfeeding education, instruction, and hands-on assistance as needed to all patients in the Medical Center who elect to breastfeed. This care shall be provided in accordance with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners' Code of Ethics and the International Lactation Consultant Associations' Standards of Practice.The Lactation Consultant is a competent clinician who provides care in a skilled and effective manner. Utilizing appropriate decision-making skills and exhibiting competence in the clinical, cognitive and interpersonal skills required to independently and safely manage the routine breastfeeding care of the patient. The Lactation Consultant establishes a plan of care, sets goals, determines priorities, and evaluates outcomes within established standards of practice.QualificationsJob Requirements:High School Diploma/GED. (Bachelor's degree in healthcare highly preferred).Certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).Basic Life Support certification required.Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Lactation Consultant.
