TITLE: Land Manager
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Chair
QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in resource management, planning, or a related field and four years of experience in land management. An additional four years of professional experience in land management may be substituted for the formal education requirement. A demonstrated ability to read maps as well as knowledge of legal property descriptions. This individual must be able to physically lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to set priorities, organize, coordinate work efficiently, and establish good personal relations with other office workers and work independently and creatively. Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and in written format, and prepare and present technically correct and detailed material through presentations. Must be at least eighteen years of age, possess a valid driver license, and be insurable.
OVERVIEW: The Land Manager is responsible for the Nation's land inventory and classification program, land disposal program through sale, lease, or exchange, and land acquisitions. Additional responsibilities involve coordination with federal, state, and local governments on land management issues. Land Managers maintain and develop forests, rangelands, and other natural sites for conservation or resource development.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Other duties may be assigned and required by the KNED Director.Work with private landowners and government agents.Maintain current knowledge of pertinent legislation and land use regulations.Design and implement ways to improve the land with minimal environmental impact.Design, implement, and evaluate programs to sustain the land and its wildlife.May supervise harvests.Choose and prepare sites for planting trees and other crops.Monitor grazing lands for signs of disease, insect infestation, and overgrazing.Lead Based Paint inspections and Risk Assessments as needed.Conduct home energy audits and assessments.Indian Preference: Considered with verification of Indian Heritage.
