LANDSCAPE MANAGER Department: Grounds Department
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent, Director of Agronomy
Supervises: Grounds Persons
Classification: Full Time, Year Round
Job Summary (Essential Functions): Oversee the daily course and clubhouse landscape and inspect conditions.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations: Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds, landscaped area maintenance work, and building maintenance and improvement. Operate various equipment that is related to the maintenance of landscaped areas. Knowledge of emergency response procedures. Duties & Responsibilities: Oversees and performs ongoing landscape maintenance activities including but not limited to clubhouse, snack bars, cottages, and sports complex. Responsible for ordering and installing over 2000 annuals. Responsible for coordinating multiple plantings and cleanup as the seasons dictate. Perform duties including, but not limited to, watering, fertilization, and application of pesticides to plant material as warranted by environmental conditions. Ensures all plantings are properly watered, fertilized, and cared for to promote healthy growth and prevent problems. Conduct regular inspections of landscaped areas. Trains personnel in ongoing course landscaping. Performs safety orientation and ongoing safety training for all landscaping personnel. Ensures compliance with all Grounds Department and club policies and standards. Works with the Director of Agronomy to implement capital improvement projects around the clubhouse. Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Director of Agronomy. Experience Three years of experience in the maintenance, operation, or management in a similar role. Education Undergraduate college study in horticulture or a related field. Licenses and Special Requirements Pesticide Applicator's certificate, ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. Valid driver's license. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat. Able to meet and perform the physical requirements of the job and to work effectively in an environment that is typical of this position. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and stooping. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work. General Information Scheduled Shifts: Full-time, year-round position. Days and hours are based on club operations and weather conditions. Regularly works 45+ hours per week.
Wage: Competitive wage, based on experience.
