The Lead Cable Technician will oversee and lead cable installation and maintenance projects, managing a team of cable technicians while ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion of work. The Lead Technician will be responsible for managing complex cable systems, supervising technicians, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
\n ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a team of cable technicians during installations, upgrades, and repairs of various cable systems, including coaxial, fiber optic, and Ethernet.Manage and coordinate day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient use of resources and that jobs are completed on schedule.Perform cable installations, terminations, splicing, and troubleshooting for both residential and commercial systems.Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures during cable installation and maintenance.Oversee cable testing and ensure the proper performance of all systems, addressing any issues promptly.Provide technical support and training to junior cable technicians, offering guidance and troubleshooting assistance when needed.Communicate with customers to understand their requirements, explain installation processes, and ensure satisfaction.Inspect and approve the work completed by the cable team, ensuring high-quality installations and customer service.Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for each job, including installation reports, service orders, and time logs.Maintain inventory control, ensuring all necessary tools, materials, and equipment are available for the team.Assist with the development of project timelines, task delegation, and on-site job coordination.Monitor and ensure safe working practices, reporting any safety concerns or issues.Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to cable systems and equipment.Participate in quality assurance checks and follow up on completed projects to ensure long-term performance. QualificationsAssociates Degree or equivalent; technical certifications in cable installation or related fields are preferred.Proven experience in cable installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.Strong knowledge of cable types, installation techniques, and cable testing tools and equipment.Ability to manage a team, providing guidance, training, and motivation.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical issues.Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.Familiarity with industry standards and codes for cable installation and safety.Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and blueprints.Proficiency in using cable testing and diagnostic equipment.
