The Lead Carpenter is a key leader on the jobsite, responsible for overseeing daily operations, coordinating with team members and subcontractors, and ensuring projects run smoothly and on schedule. This role combines hands-on carpentry expertise with strong organizational and leadership skills to ensure quality work and jobsite safety. The Lead Carpenter maintains clear communication with clients and stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly and proactively, and ensuring each stage of the project meets high standards of quality and professionalism.
Responsibilities: Provides leadership to ensure projects move efficiently towards completionSets a positive example for the jobsite team by actively supporting everyone on the crew, regardless of skill level, and avoids openly criticizing other members of the project teamDevelops a proactive management plan for tools, equipment, and material deliveries to optimize workflow and minimize delaysMaintains personal, jobsite, and crew safety at all times, meeting OSHA standardsSets up proper dust protection as needed to safeguard client homesCoordinates with subcontractors, ensures necessary on-site support is present, and informs subcontractors promptly of any schedule changesTakes initiative to solve project issues and maintain high standards; involves the Construction Manager/Owner for additional support only when neededRuns client meetings and promptly shares meeting notes with all participantsCommunicates with clients, architects, and subcontractors, maintaining regular updates with the owner on project statusResponds to client requests quickly and professionally, involving the Construction Manager/Owner or Architect when neededSchedules and is present for city/town inspectionsPerforms carpentry tasks as part of the crew and individuallyAssigns tasks to carpenters and ensures they are set up for successWorks proactively to ensure the next trades are set up for successFlags potential change orders/additional work and provides labor and material take-offs, collaborating with the Construction Manager/Owner to generate change ordersAssists the Construction Manager/Owner with pricing potential projectsAssists with ordering materials, identifying long lead-time items to ensure they are onsite when neededHolds themselves and workers under their direction accountable for work performance, quality, efficiency, and completeness to a high standardWorks with the Construction Manager/Owner to develop and maintain the project scheduleEnsures the completion of all punch list and job close-out tasksSubmits daily logs to record project activityRecords time daily in the app with proper descriptions, ensuring crew time is accurate and completeEmails receipts for materials purchased, labeled with cost codes daily, and ensures crew receipts are accurate and submitted on time Requirements: Report to jobsite Mon-Friday 7:30-4:00. With optional over time as requested/approved.Have and maintain Construction Supervisor License and Lead Safe CertificateMaintain reliable and professional transportation capable of transporting personal tools to and from jobsite which may change daily at times, may be requested to transport materials and/or company equipment. Have and maintain, in good working order, a complete set of hand tools Company to provide major power tools and equipment onsite.Ability to enter daily job logs into project management softwareHigh school diploma. 5 + years' experience in residential construction.
