Job Summary: Candidate is responsible for assigned activities within the control systems engineering discipline in a global business unit. Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of engineering analyses. Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client as directed to resolve technical questions. Work involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, requisitions, guides, databases, and/or systems. Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments and recommendations. Assists in the preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders. Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. Performs assignments that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Exercises limited but increasing judgment in performing assigned tasks. Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Major Responsibilities: Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of large size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of licensors, contractors, subcontractors, discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to the client and upper management.Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, license, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, regulators).Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.Develops Engineering Procedures, design guides, specifications, instructions, philosophies and design criteria.Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.Mentors engineers, scientists, designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.Education and Experience Requirements: B Tech in Instrumentation & Control from a recognized university.Minimum 20 years of industry experience.Engineering and Design experience in EPC and FEED Projects.Lead at least 4-5 EPC Projects with minimum direct reports of 8-15.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer tools to engineering problems. Knowledge of project controls within discipline. Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the Control Systems discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (Ceng) Certification is preferred.Basic technical knowledge of Control System engineering in Oil and Gas / Mining & Metal / Power / Manufacturing & Technology sectors of Semiconductor industry or EV batteries or Data Centers.Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.Understanding of industry regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline. Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials. Understands standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating.Job knowledge of various types of field Instrumentation, DCS, PLC, Hazardous areas is essential.Design experience or Basic knowledge of DCS / PLC and SCADA Networks, Fiber optic and CAT 6 is essential.Basic awareness of industry standards Application Programs such as SPI, Smart Plant, Flowel.Basic awareness of industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.Basic skills in oral and written communication.Diverse teams build the extraordinary: As a global company, Bechtel has long been home to a vibrant multitude of nationalities, cultures, ethnicities, and life experiences.
