Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Lead First Shift Nursing Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor is responsible for providing quality care to residents of our 60 bed facility in the assigned neighborhood.
The RN functions as a professional caregiver who is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all aspects of resident care, including physical, psychosocial and environmental needs.
Essential Functions Administers medications accurately and in a timely fashion.
Documents according to nursing practice standards and Duncaster policies and procedures.
Provides treatments to residents in a timely fashion according to physician orders and Duncaster policies and procedures.
Provides physical comfort and a safe environment.
Initiates, implements and evaluates care plans/MDS on an ongoing basis.
Accurately completes admission and discharge procedures.
Coordinates staff and resident care appropriately to meet resident needs.
Utilizes electronic medical records system.
Provides a direct line of communication between patients, nursing staff, and physicians.
Communicates with patients and their family members, offers emotional support and compassionate care to patients and families in distress.
Follows all policies and procedures, annual mandatory in-services, required meetings, and other conditions of employment are consistently met.
Review updates and communicate with staff, real time training of staff and providers, unlock/reset passwords, troubleshoot issues and work with Matrix to resolve.
Perform bi-monthly pharmacy audits, narcotic destruction, pharmacy returns and pharmacy expense monitoring.
Maintain a relationship with pharmacy to optimize processes/costs.
Work with liaison to ensure active list of users, register new users, train new employees, update inventory to meet facility needs.
Monitor staff attendance, track patterns and identify, mentor new staff and identify training needs.
Assign and monitor call schedules Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Current CT RN license is required.
2 years of full-time clinical experience in nursing is required.
2 years of supervisory experience is preferred Geriatric & Dementia experience is required.
Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Comprehensive knowledge of geriatric nursing care, principles of nursing, and physical assessment skills.
Hours
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm (On call rotation every 10 to 13 weeks)
Pay
$45.00 per hour
