Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanic to manage the day-to-day operations of our garage shop in Goshen, NY. This hands-on leadership role involves overseeing a team of mechanics, ensuring efficient workflow, managing parts inventory, and maintaining quality control for all serviced equipment and trucks. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of diesel engines, excavating, heavy equipment, trucks, and hydraulic systems, alongside strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities: Team Management: Lead, train, and supervise a team of mechanics, ensuring that all work meets high-quality standards and is completed efficiently.Quality Control: Inspect and approve all equipment and trucks before they leave the shop, confirming that repairs and maintenance are thorough and comply with company standards.Parts Management: Order necessary parts, manage inventory levels, and ensure timely procurement of materials to prevent servicing delays.Client Communication: Provide timely and professional responses to client inquiries regarding repair status and equipment issues.Scheduling & Coordination: Collaborate with the service team to schedule repairs and coordinate with the logistics team for equipment delivery and return.Billing: Ensure accurate billing for all services rendered, maintaining precise records of repairs, labor, and parts used. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Lead Mechanic or Shop Manager, particularly in diesel, excavating, heavy equipment, and hydraulic systems.Strong mechanical expertise in truck and equipment repair.Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.Ability to multitask and coordinate across various teams.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Effective communication skills for client and team interactions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.Familiarity with parts inventory management software.Strong diagnostic skills for efficiently troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues. Compensation:
$60,000 - $70,000 per year, based on experience.
