PICO California is seeking a Lead Community Organizer who will develop and implement community organizing strategies that meet the project objectives. This will be done by working with the leadership at PICO California and Inclusive Action for the City. The project-based partnership between Inclusive Action for the City and PICO California project seeks to improve working conditions for recyclers in Los Angeles County through community organization, policy advocacy, and partnership building across various stakeholders and community-based organizations. What You'll Be Doing:Conducting outreach to recyclers to understand the needs, challenges, and aspirations of recyclersBuilding organizing teams composed of recyclers that will lead the project's advocacy efforts. Creating partnerships with community-based organizations and potential advocacy partners Collaborating with Inclusive Action for the City to conduct policy research and power analysis to help determine policy campaigns to improve recyclers' working and economic conditions.In conjunction with Inclusive Action for the City to organize and prepare convenings related to the project.Our Ideal Candidate: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in community organizing, advocacy, or a related fieldBilingual in English and Spanish requiredProven experience in community organizing and advocacyAbility to engage with diverse communities and foster relationshipsExperience in developing and implementing strategies to meet project objectivesAbility to identify and assess potential project areas and communities for engagementExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience establishing and maintaining partnerships with local organizationsAbility to identify and collaborate with potential policy advocacy partnersExperience conducting policy research and power analysisCompensation and Benefits PICO California is committed to diversity in its staff and offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including the flexibility of a hybrid role, 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental for staff members and dependents, and a robust 401k plan.
