Assist with the supervision of the activities of the Park Operations Techs and Park Monitors in the maintenance and repair of Town's Parks and Grounds.
Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Parks Operations Manager.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties of the PositionThe following duties are those considered most essential to the position.
This does not preclude the delegation of other duties considered as necessary by management to successfully complete an assignment or project.
Assists with the supervision of full-time and part-time employees in the day to day maintenance tasks.
Inspects and repairs playground equipment to ensure items are hazard free and operating safely.
Applies pesticides and weed killer.
Prepares athletic fields for playing; marks lines; fertilizes and aerates various playing fields; lays sod and top dresses ball fields, common grounds and turf areas.
Performs general custodial duties; sweeps and mops facilities; cleans restrooms; removes trash; assists in maintaining gymnasium floor.
Assists in the repair and maintenance of basic plumbing fixtures, minor electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning work.
Set up and break down for events Assists with concrete and asphalt installation and repairs.
Performs general maintenance duties including painting objects, buildings, dug outs, etc.
Mows grass, edges sidewalks and curbs, trims trees and shrubs, plants flowers, and spreads mulch.
Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Required Education and ExperienceKnowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in general maintenance and grounds keeping work; materials, equipment, tools and techniques of the standard building trades; safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class; and, methods used in the preparation of baseball and softball fields; ability to understand and follow instructions; perform manual labor for extended periods of time; and, establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
High school diploma or GED and 2 - 5 years of experience in the performance of maintenance and repair work.
Required to obtain CPSI certification within 12 months.
Possession of valid NC pesticide application license within 12 months.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
